They remind me of spring! I have a boy, so I don't get to use flowers on much of my own scrapbooks. I do sneak them in when I can and I use them on my nieces pages. I've had so many Etsy friends create treasuries, but I had never tried it. Finally, after some encouragement I finally tried it. I created my list in poster sketch: http://www.etsy.com/poster_sketch.php, I then waited until it was time for the list to open up.

I don't even know what I did, but next thing I know it was asking me for a title. I typed that in quickly, thinking I don't have much time. I then was faced with a blank page, with just my title and name. Now what was I to do? I didn't want to click on anything and loose my opportunity. I finally noticed the little spaces for me to type in the listing numbers. It took me a few to learn that on my poster sketch, if I click on the edit button under each item, it will give me the item number and I can copy and paste. Wow, now that was easy!

So, after an adrenline rush, the excitement is over. I guess I have to create another one now!

You can view it here:
http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=118681

Just Scraps N Thingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09510003922181233746noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8924445425743545952.post-56799232819132109222010-03-05T16:31:00.000-08:002010-03-05T16:36:31.372-08:00My bookmark is featured today!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/S5GjEhduafI/AAAAAAAAAJM/hYA_HRffc1I/s320/P3030108.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5445312722565491186" />
Thank you to Heather king Photography for featuring my rainy day "Scrapped" bookmark:
http://heatherkingphotography.blogspot.com/2010/03/friday-feature-umbrellas.html
or on facebook at:
http://www.facebook.com/heatherkingphotography

I had fun creating this bookmark just for this feature. Sorry, recovering from the holidays.

I just created this card for my Etsy shop and thought I'd share instructions on how to create glittered words.

-I printed the saying on cardstock with my computer.
-I rubbed the paper with a dryer sheet to prevent the embossing powder from sticking where it's not supposed to be.
-I then used an embossing pen to write over the top of the words ROCKIN'.
-I then sprinkled black glittered embossing powder over the top and shook off the extra.
-I then heat embossed the glitter until melted.

This really adds a pop to all sorts of projects. You can add detail to any saying, title, clip art, embellishment, etc... and then emboss with any color of glittered embossing powder.

Just Scraps N Thingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09510003922181233746noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8924445425743545952.post-82090221145349197492010-01-19T09:11:00.000-08:002010-01-19T09:23:52.458-08:00Bailey's Truffles - yummmm<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/S1XpACm8HCI/AAAAAAAAAG0/Jqorh3rtO_E/s320/truffles5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428501112774466594" />
Good morning! I got this recipe from a friend a couple of months ago. I haven't tried it yet, but my Etsy friend http://www.etsy.com/shop/heatherkingdesigns made them this past weekend and has posted pics on her blog: http://heatherkingphotography.blogspot.com

These would be perfect for Valentine's day or any other special occasion.

Bailey’s truffles:

1 bag (12 oz) of bittersweet choc. chips
1 bag (12 oz) of semi-sweet choc. chips
1 stick (8 Tbl) of unsalted butter at room temp cut into small pieces
1 cup heavy whipping cream
½ cup of Bailey’s
1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder

1. Put the choc. chips and cream in a glass bowl and microwave until the chocolate is melted. 30-45 second increments, stirring after each increment. Be careful not to overcook. You’ll want the chocolate to look smooth and shiny.

2. Stir the butter chunks into the warm chocolate. Keep stirring until they’re melted and combined into the mix.

3. Stir in the Bailey’s until it’s well combined and chocolate mix is smooth and shiny.

4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 4-5 hours or overnight until the mix is hardened.

5. Take the mix out of the fridge and let sit at room temperature for 30-45 minutes. Put the cocoa powder in a bowl or on a plate.

6. Using a spoon, scoop out a bit of the truffle mix, about the size of a quarter in diameter. Shape the chocolate into a round ball.

7. Roll the truffle in the cocoa powder.

8. Finished truffles can be stored in a airtight container or ziplock bag in the fridge or freezer.

Note: You can also try milk chocolate chips and white chocolate chips and roll them in powdered sugar.

Just Scraps N Thingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09510003922181233746noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8924445425743545952.post-61981727615394362632010-01-11T11:26:00.001-08:002010-01-11T11:31:27.182-08:00Hello Valentine!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/S0t8iDyiYZI/AAAAAAAAAGs/qC002dKsheU/s320/il_fullxfull_114483322.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425567100672565650" />

Now that Christmas is over, my scrap room is covered in pink & red paper. You can use a die cut machine or copy something off the internet or a coloring book.
-Iron the negative image onto the t-shirt waxy side down. High heat, no steam.
-Put a piece of freezer paper or cardboard in between the layers of the t-shirt so the ink won't go through.
-Using fabric ink or fabric paint color your design. I found that the squeeze bottles worked well. Squeeze a small section of paint onto your image and use a paint brush to brush it on. Go back and forth and up and down. You can do a couple of coats to make it darker, if desired. If doing more than one color or design, let dry and repeat process.
-When dry (about 4 hours) remove the freezer paper. Lay a new piece of freezer paper over the entire design. Iron to set the paint.

Will wash well, turn inside out for best results.

These instructions are pretty basic, if you search you can find videos or other webpages with more detailed step by step instructions. But, pretty much these are really easy to make. Try it out on one of your stained t-shirts first then let you imagination sore!

Think.... tennis shoes, bags, pants, hats, etc..... :)

I've also tried this using the positive image. I've ironed on the image and then when cooled, I've used bleach water and randomly sprayed the t-shirt. When dry and the freezer paper image is removed, it resembles tie-dyed. I did this with a black t-shirt and the bleach left red and white splashes all over the t-shirt. My nieces had a blast making theirs.

Just Scraps N Thingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09510003922181233746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8924445425743545952.post-44857442133236670762009-12-30T11:22:00.000-08:002009-12-30T11:27:50.213-08:00Homemade Christmas - Freezer t-shirts<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 251px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/SzuppWZcOKI/AAAAAAAAAGc/OT8Ig5SRO2s/s320/PC220040.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421113104322541730" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 278px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/Szupo_z_43I/AAAAAAAAAGU/PAoaVjJy7yw/s320/PC210038.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421113098259915634" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 284px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/SzupoMA5ZlI/AAAAAAAAAGM/04iNte8YgC0/s320/PC210036.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421113084355372626" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 243px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/Szupnzx5n_I/AAAAAAAAAGE/pnZbuQrpLNY/s320/PC210035.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421113077850021874" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 249px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/SzupnRkxFLI/AAAAAAAAAF8/Ma-wzAquieQ/s320/PC210034.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421113068668130482" />
I made all my nieces and nephews t-shirts this year for Chrismtas. Please take a look at her shop:

DECEMBER 2009 - BREAST SALE!!
Having just found out that my mother has breast cancer and will be having a double mastectomy - here is a sale in honor of her, and meant to help her out. Emotionally, as well as financially. I have marked some of my nude paintings (those with breasts showing) down by 50% - which is huge. I am a nationally recognized award-winning, gallery represented, successful artist, who does not usually have sales (as I have wonderful collectors). But this is for Mom - so wish us luck and quick healing for her.

http://www.etsy.com/shop/KimDow

Just Scraps N Thingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09510003922181233746noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8924445425743545952.post-3803962961290528292009-11-30T16:20:00.000-08:002009-11-30T16:22:54.540-08:00I'm featured in a blog<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/SxRhuwi6FII/AAAAAAAAAEk/FfKQHzIxMI0/s200/PA240080.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5410056508311999618" />
Thank you to Creativewithclay.etsy.com for featuring me in your blog:
http://creativewithclay.blogspot.com/2009/11/color-feature-of-week-baby-blue.html

Just Scraps N Thingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09510003922181233746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8924445425743545952.post-4858106231557460432009-11-30T10:49:00.001-08:002009-11-30T11:01:05.127-08:00In Memory of 4 slain police officers<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 170px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/SxQVNH5ZfGI/AAAAAAAAAEc/PcAwaLI0IAw/s200/2009-11-18-1052-45_edited.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5409972367581084770" />
We had a very sad end to our holiday weekend. They did the show on making things out of scrap paper. HEY, that's what I do! :)

One of the things I thought was very clever was to make your own "curling ribbon" out of scrap paper. Just cut your paper into thin strips and use your finger nail to curl the paper. Put pieces together and attach to your package!

The paper chain would be super cute to use as an ADVENT Calendar idea. Have your children remove one chain each day until Chrismtas. This is also a great idea on counting down to a vacation. Think of the paper possibilites. All Christmas colors as a decoration around your fireplace or door frame. hmmmm... I may have to try that.

They also showed how to make a really easy, cute, reusable banner.

Click the link and it will take you to the site with instructions and even the broadcast.

Just Scraps N Thingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09510003922181233746noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8924445425743545952.post-26716041677752571262009-11-27T14:45:00.000-08:002009-11-27T14:53:18.008-08:00Black Friday Shopping - Deal of the Day<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 259px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/SxBYVBcdrbI/AAAAAAAAAEE/-LB7hhnJ9Oc/s320/nerf-nstrike-vulcan-ebf-25.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5408920270660283826" />
I'm now recovering from eating all that turkey and pie, plus getting up at 4:00AM to go shopping on Black Friday. I didn't have too much of a list today, but did get a few good deals.

I picked up: The Dark Knight DVD for $3.99 at Target. Cuddlebug embossing folder for $4.00 at Michals. 1/2 price socks and pj's at Fred Meyer's.

My son was thrilled to go with me as he had a gift card burning a hole in his pocket. :) He got the Nerf Vulcan EBF-25 for $25 at Target. Kept the whining to a minimum and we were all done by 9:00 AM.

What deals did you get out there? Post them here!

Just Scraps N Thingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09510003922181233746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8924445425743545952.post-54058236843654811812009-11-25T20:28:00.000-08:002009-11-25T20:33:42.775-08:00THANKSGIVING DAY TO CYBER MONDAY SALE<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 202px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/Sw4FEixNTSI/AAAAAAAAAD8/1Xc56xrJraw/s320/PB250023.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5408265778129358114" />
I'm having a SALE at my Etsy store: www.justscrapsnthings.etsy.com

THANKSGIVING TO CYBER MONDAY SALE:
FROM NOVEMBER 26, 2009 - NOVEMBER 30, 2009

BUY ANY 2 ITEMS AND GET 1 ITEM FROM MY $1.00 SECTION FOR FREE!
Convo me and I'll adjust the price and reserve the listing for you or Purchase now and I'll refund through Paypal.

Includes all items including my $1.00 section.

Just Scraps N Thingshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09510003922181233746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8924445425743545952.post-52874123551339765072009-11-24T13:28:00.000-08:002009-11-24T13:31:15.332-08:00Thanksgiving - Black Friday - Cyber Monday Sale<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 252px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SEOOD5m5kJw/SwxQY0Wtq3I/AAAAAAAAADs/bTYtR2SuVGU/s320/2009-11-24-1053-34_edited.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407785639866116978" />
I'm going to be having a sale at my Etsy shop starting Thanksgiving Day.
